wikipedia
Oleszno is a village in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, located in the picturesque region of the Włoszczowa Basin, characterized by gentle terrain and rich mineral resources, such as limestones and ceramic clays. The history of the settlement dates back to at least 1396, when it appeared in documents related to settlement. In the 14th and 15th centuries, crafts were practiced in Oleszno, and the village had town rights, which it eventually lost. Oleszno is known for its earlier inhabitants, including noble families such as the Szafrańcowie, who supported the development of the settlement. In the 16th century, Oleszno became an important economic center, with numerous craftsmen, mills, and fish ponds. From the 18th century onward, the village underwent various administrative changes until the partitions of Poland, which altered its status. In the 19th century, the population grew, including Jewish residents, and the village became larger than Krasocin. A significant landmark in Oleszno's history is the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in the 17th century, which is now one of the region's most valuable architectural monuments. Other important sites include an 18th-century manor house and the funeral chapel of Florian Łętowski. During World War II, Oleszno was a site of patriotic activity, and today it is a peaceful village where history intertwines with attractive natural features. An interesting fact is that the area was surrounded by vast forests, and the name Oleszno is associated with the presence of alder trees, highlighting the connection between nature and the culture of the settlement.
