Olsztyn

Olsztyn (Jurajski) is a town in the Silesian Voivodeship, within the Częstochowa County, located about 15 kilometers southeast of Częstochowa. The town, through which the Trail of the Eagles' Nests runs, is primarily known for the ruins of a 13th-century castle. Olsztyn, which held town rights from 1488 to 1870, regained them in 2022. The name Olsztyn comes from the German language and refers to the characteristic geological features of the region. The town boasts numerous historic sites, including the castle, the Church of St. John the Baptist, and the moving nativity scene by Jan Wewiór, which is part of the Wooden Architecture Trail.
