Rondo ONZ is a station on the second line of the Warsaw Metro, located beneath the Rondo ONZ roundabout in the Wola and Śródmieście districts. The conceptual design of the station, developed in 2008 by Andrzej Chołdzyński, features a modern design inspired by technology and urbanism. Designated as S8, the station was planned using the open-cut method, and its construction began in 2011. Aesthetically unique elements include the colorful station names created by Wojciech Fangor and a ceiling that mimics a starry sky. The station structure is 157.6 meters long and 21.9 meters wide, with distinctive chalice-shaped concrete pillars on the platform. The station was opened on March 8, 2015, after more than three years of intensive construction work. On its opening day, it welcomed approximately 233,000 passengers.
Rondo ONZ is situated near important business hubs such as Rondo 1, Ilmet, and the Warsaw Financial Center. Numerous bus and tram stops provide convenient connections to the surrounding area. An additional advantage is the Veturilo bike-sharing station located at the southwestern corner of the roundabout. The station not only serves residents but has also become an important cultural hub, particularly during sporting events like the UEFA Europa League final, which attracted large crowds of additional passengers. From an architectural perspective, the station combines functionality with elegant design, and its use of space, including commercial passages, highlights its modern character. Interestingly, it has helped improve mobility within the capital, and its popularity has continued to grow over time.
