wikipedia
The municipality of Osiek, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, within the Brodnica County, has a rich history dating back to 1867, when it was established as a collective municipality. During World War II, the municipality was incorporated into Germany under the name Lindenschanz, and its borders were significantly altered. After the war, administrative structures were weakened, leading to ambiguities regarding the municipality's boundaries, which persisted until the 1950s. The municipality of Osiek was reinstated on January 1, 1973, and was incorporated into Brodnica County in 1999. Osiek is characterized by its historical architecture, including a 14th-century church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Małkiewicz family tomb chapel from 1870. The municipality is also home to a steel bridge in Łapinóż, dating back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Osiek actively supports culture through the activities of the Municipal Cultural Center, the Municipal Public Library, and the Rural Housewives' Circle. There are two primary schools in the municipality, and the local community engages in various cultural events. Sports facilities include pitches and a sports hall, as well as the "Legia" Osiek Sports Club. The municipality encompasses numerous village administrative units, such as Strzygi and Łapinóż, as well as other localities, forming a structurally diverse community. A notable aspect is the rich cultural and architectural heritage preserved in the region, which constitutes an important element of local identity and history.
