wikipedia
Osobnica is a village located in Poland, in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within Jasło County. It serves as the seat of the Parish of St. Stanislaus the Bishop, and its history dates back to 1348, when King Casimir the Great granted it German town rights. The area is home to an oil mine, operational since 1953, making Osobnica a significant point in the oil industry. Architecturally, the village is distinguished by the historic Church of St. Stanislaus, consecrated in 1906. Designed by Teodor Talowski, it represents the Neo-Gothic style and boasts impressive dimensions: 37 meters in length and 22 meters in width at the cross nave. The church is adorned with Neo-Gothic altars and sculptures crafted by Tyrolean artists. Osobnica is also a place rich in history, where battles took place during World War I and World War II, and War Cemetery No. 17 with mass graves of soldiers stands as a testament to the tragic fates of its inhabitants. In the 19th century, the village came under the management of various owners, and only fragments of the former cemetery remain to this day, including the tomb of the de Laveaux family. In terms of culture, Osobnica takes pride in its School Complex, whose history traces back to 1601 when a parish school run by a cleric was established. The People's Sports Club "Sparta" Osobnica, founded in 1976, also contributes to the local sports culture. The region features tourist trails, including the Cross-Border Oil Trail, which connects historical sites related to the oil industry. Osobnica is also associated with Wojciech Breowicz, a poet and folk activist, further highlighting its cultural and historical significance.
