wikipedia
Located in the Silesian Voivodeship, in Wodzisław County, Pszów is one of the main pilgrimage centers in Upper Silesia, and its history dates back to the 13th century, when in 1265 the settlement was established as a ducal village. The town is known for its historic Basilica of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, an 18th-century Baroque structure that houses the Image of the Smiling Mother of God. Pszów abounds with interesting architectural elements, such as the calvary, as well as Anna Park with the former Anna Mine, which was active until 2012. The town has a rich cultural life with the Municipal Cultural Center and a public library with several branches. Pszów is an important pilgrimage site, as evidenced by the annual activity related to the Pszów Calvary. The historical heritage of Pszów is the result of a turbulent past, including Reformation activities and tragic events, such as the sentencing of a local woman to death in the 17th century. Interestingly, Pszów is located on the highest elevation of the Rybnik Plateau, giving it a picturesque character. The town has preserved local names associated with regional traditions, such as Krzyżkowice or Pszowskie Doły. Another interesting fact is that Pszów developed as a mining center with the growth of transport and educational infrastructure, including in its history the patronal housing estate of the "Anna" mine, and its society actively participates in local life through various associations. With a current population of over 13,000, the town continues to maintain its tradition as a place with rich historical and cultural heritage, while also offering opportunities for recreation and active leisure thanks to numerous cycling trails and sports facilities. Pszów also features small, cozy hotels, making it a tourist-friendly destination.
