wikipedia
Pęcice is a village in the Masovian Voivodeship, within the Pruszków County, belonging to the municipality of Michałowice, situated on the Utrata River. The village boasts a rich history, dating back to its parish origins, established in the 13th century by the Pierzchała noble family. Pęcice was a noble estate, and in the 16th century, it was divided into several parts. In the 17th century, it came into the hands of the Pierzchała and Chądzyński noble families. Over time, the estate passed to the Górski family and then to the Zaborowski family. During the 20th century, Pęcice became a site of battles in World War I, which led to the destruction of many buildings, including the palace. Between 1944 and 1945, dramatic events related to World War II unfolded when the village became a battleground between Warsaw insurgents and German soldiers, resulting in tragic losses. Pęcice is known for several historical monuments, including the Church of St. Peter and Paul, built between 1825 and 1832, which contains valuable elements such as tombs of local noble families. Another significant landmark is the neoclassical palace, constructed between 1808 and 1809, which was rebuilt in the 1920s after wartime destruction. Surrounding the palace is a landscape park featuring interesting tree specimens and a pond. Pęcice also has a World War I cemetery where German, Russian, and Polish soldiers are buried. It is worth mentioning that the palace once served as the headquarters of the Art-B company and was a place where presidential candidate Stanisław Tymiński rented rooms. Currently, this site, known as Dwór Polski, is closed to the public.
