wikipedia
Przechód is a village in Poland, located in the Opole Voivodeship, Nysa County, historically situated in Upper Silesia. The locality, also known by its German name Waldfurt, derives its name from the word "przechód," meaning passage, related to its location on the Ścinawa Niemodlińska River, surrounded by the Niemodlin Forests. The village has a linear layout with buildings on both sides of the road, and its picturesque hills, such as Górka Sowińska or Góra Czarownic, are named according to local traditions. Przechód is the venue for the International Waterball (Wasserball) Tournament, which fosters integration within the local community. Between 1950 and 1970, the population numbered around 1,450–1,500, while currently, about 800 people reside there. The village has a rich history, first mentioned in documents between 1303 and 1306, with records of its church dating back to 1279. Over the centuries, the village developed, undergoing various administrative changes until 1945, when it regained its Polish name. Przechód is home to several historic monuments, including the Church of St. John the Baptist from 1793, a rectory from the mid-18th century, and a chapel from the late 18th century. Interestingly, at the beginning of the 20th century, the village was characterized by bilingualism, with a predominant Polish-speaking population. Thanks to the activities of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK), the village also serves as an important tourist destination, offering cultural and natural attractions for visitors.
