wikipedia
Łosinka is a village located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, in Hajnówka County, within the administrative district of Narew. Its history dates back to the beginning of the Common Era, and the first written mention of the village comes from 1778, related to the consecration of the church dedicated to Saint James the Apostle. In the 19th century, Łosinka became the center of a municipality encompassing 48 localities. The village experienced numerous hardships, including deportations to Siberia during the war and destruction resulting from battles in World War II. After the war, despite encouragement to settle in the USSR, many residents chose to remain, though they struggled with the difficulties of life in the new reality. In Łosinka, one can find an Orthodox church, a historic cemetery chapel, and a burial mound dating back to the 3rd–4th centuries, which highlights the region's rich cultural heritage. The residents have strong Orthodox traditions, and the village is characterized by a continually declining population. Notable infrastructure includes the Volunteer Fire Department, which has been operating since 1933, and newer facilities such as water supply systems and a sewage treatment plant that were established at the end of the 20th century. The village is listed in the National Heritage Institute's register with important monuments, including the church and historical buildings, making it a significant site in the local cultural landscape. Despite many challenges, the residents continue to cherish their traditions, and the local community is actively involved in efforts to preserve the region's heritage.
