The sculptural group "Perseus Freeing Andromeda" is a significant feature of Wilson Park in Poznań, located in front of the Poznań Palm House. Created by German artist Johannes Pfuhl, the sculpture depicts the mythological scene in which Perseus rescues Andromeda from the sea monster, Cetus. Cast in bronze, the sculpture was initially installed in 1891 on Cyryl Ratajski Square as part of a monumental fountain project commemorating Empress Victoria's visit in 1888. However, this project was never fully completed. After World War II, in 1956, the sculpture was moved to Wilson Park, where it now serves as a visual anchor for the French garden, surrounded by benches that invite relaxation and contemplation in a beautiful setting. The relocation of the sculpture can be seen as symbolic—it has survived turbulent times and continues to invite residents and tourists to explore Poznań's rich history and culture. It is worth noting that, through its artistic and mythological references, the sculpture attracts art and history enthusiasts. The combination of a beautiful environment with elements of park architecture makes this site a unique point on the map of Poznań.
