Piątnica is a rural municipality located in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, within the Łomża County. Its administrative seat is the town of Piątnica Poduchowna. The history of the municipality dates back to before 1954, when it was known as the Drozdowo Commune. Between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Łomża Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the municipality had a population of 10,575, and its area was 218.69 km², of which 74% was agricultural land and 18% was forested. The Piątnica Municipality constitutes 16.15% of the area of Łomża County. Architecturally, the municipality is characterized mainly by rural development, with traditional houses and farmsteads that reflect local traditions and culture.
