Pierzchnica Municipality, previously known as Drugnia Municipality until 1954, is an urban-rural administrative unit located in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, within Kielce County. The seat of the municipality is the town of Pierzchnica. The municipality has a rich history: from 1954 to 1972 it functioned as the Pierzchnica Gromada (a smaller administrative division), and in later years, from 1975 to 1998, it belonged to the former Kielce Voivodeship. According to demographic data, as of June 2004, the municipality was inhabited by 4,781 people. It covers an area of 104.59 km², of which 76% is agricultural land and 18% is forest land, indicating the significant role of agriculture in the lives of its residents. The municipality includes numerous village administrative districts (sołectwa), such as Brody, Drugnia, Górki, and others, as well as villages without such status, including Czarna and Kalina Górecka. Pierzchnica Municipality borders towns and municipalities such as Chmielnik, Daleszyce, Gnojno, Morawica, Raków, and Szydłów, which fosters cultural exchange and inter-municipal cooperation. Pierzchnica is a place where tradition meets modernity, and residents actively cultivate local customs. An interesting fact is that the municipality constitutes 4.65% of the area of Kielce County, reflecting its importance in the region. The municipality also offers local attractions that draw both residents and tourists interested in the history and culture of the area.
