Pilzno is an urban-rural municipality located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within Dębica County, with its seat in the town of Pilzno. The history of the municipality dates back to before 1945, when it was part of the Kraków Voivodeship. After World War II, it became part of the newly established Rzeszów Voivodeship, and between 1975 and 1998, it was administratively part of the Tarnów Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 165.21 km², of which 66% is agricultural land and 24% is forest land, making it a key area for agriculture and forestry in the region. In 2010, the municipality was home to 17,852 people, and according to data from the end of 2017, this number increased to 18,176 residents. The demographic structure of the municipality features an age pyramid that may indicate demographic trends in the region. The municipality includes numerous villages, such as Bielowy, Dobrków, Gębiczyna, and Machowa.
