wikipedia
Piotrowska Lipa, a housing estate located in the northern part of Wrocław, boasts a rich history that dates back to the 13th century, when the settlement was known as Lipa. In the 18th century, the area became a noble estate and was administratively part of the Wrocław district. A dynamic demographic expansion occurred after the settlement of the Petersdorf colony in the 19th century; following World War I, the population grew by half. After 1945, despite the displacement of the German population, new Polish residents arrived, and by 1970 the population had exceeded pre-war levels. After its incorporation into Wrocław in 1973, Lipa struggled with a declining population; however, since 2011, there has been a sharp increase in residents thanks to new housing investments. The architecture of the estate includes various structures, such as the old Evangelical school and an infantry fort from the turn of the 20th century, which now serves as the Mobile Military Museum. The area around Pełczyńska Street is dominated by single-family homes, while new multi-family housing complexes are being developed to the north. In terms of culture, Piotrowska Lipa is significant as a place where a school operated after World War II; today, it houses a library, a seniors' club, and a center for children and youth. The estate is surrounded by recreational areas, and cyclists have access to a dedicated bike path. In the religious sphere, since 1958, residents have belonged to the Parish of St. Hedwig of Silesia, and a cemetery chapel has been transformed into a filial church. Piotrowska Lipa is well-connected to Wrocław—bus lines run through the estate, and it is located near a railway station. As an interesting fact, the area's historical connection to the former Petersdorf colony highlights its German roots. Between 2015 and 2022, a sports and recreational complex was developed, further establishing Lipa as an attractive residential area.
