Platerów Commune, located in the Masovian Voivodeship within the Łosice County, is an area rich in history and characterized by a distinct demographic structure. It was formed through the merger of the former communes of Górki and Łysów, with its seat in the town of Platerów. Between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Biała Podlaska Voivodeship. Covering an area of 128.97 km², the land is predominantly agricultural (70%) and forested (23%), reflecting the rural nature of the region, which constitutes 16.71% of Łosice County's total area. According to demographic data, the commune had a population of 5,242 in 2008, but by 2019, this number had decreased to 4,849, reflecting trends of migration or declining birth rates.
