Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow

The Polish Aviation Museum in Krakow, located on the grounds of the former Rakowice-Czyżyny airport, houses over 200 exhibits related to the history of aviation. The museum, which began operating in 1963, has a rich history and architecture; its new three-story building, opened in 2010, is shaped like a propeller, and its design received support from the Boeing Corporation. The exhibitions include aircraft, gliders, motor gliders, as well as engines and anti-aircraft missile systems. Among the unique exhibits are aircraft associated with the history of World War II, such as the famous Curtiss Export Hawk II and the unique P.11c, which saw action in September 1939. The museum conducts various educational activities, showcasing not only the history of aviation but also technological achievements in the field. An interesting initiative is the "NATO 1949–2009" project, which aims to commemorate international cooperation within NATO. The museum grounds also feature numerous monuments, including the Aviators' Monument. Exciting events, such as the Małopolska Aviation Picnic, attract aviation enthusiasts from across the country. The museum has gained international recognition, ranking eighth in CNN's list of the best aviation museums in the world. The arcades and hangars of the museum not only serve as spaces for exhibits but also as backdrops for cultural events promoting knowledge about aviation and its history. The museum's goal is to preserve the cultural heritage associated with flight, making it an important landmark in Poland.
