Telewizja Polska (TVP) is Poland's public broadcaster, which began its operations in 1952 and currently offers a wide range of television channels, including 15 terrestrial and several online ones. TVP plays a significant role in the Polish media landscape and is committed to fulfilling its public mission, which includes providing diverse news, cultural, and educational programming. TVP has a rich history dating back to the pre-war era, when the first television experiments took place in the 1930s. In the post-war period, TVP became a tool of propaganda, and its organizational structure evolved to adapt to the changing political situation. During the political transformation of the 1990s, TVP lost its broadcasting monopoly, which contributed to increased competition in the media market. Although TVP has faced various crises related to accusations of bias and lack of objectivity, it has continuously developed its programming and introduced modern technologies such as HD and 4K. Architecturally, TVP's headquarters, the Radio and Television Center in Warsaw, is an example of modern media infrastructure. In recent years, TVP has initiated numerous projects to adapt to contemporary trends, including the educational channel "Szkoła z TVP" in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, following a change in government, TVP underwent significant organizational changes, prompting demonstrations and intensified public debate about the role of public media. It is worth noting that TVP is also an active participant on the international stage, implementing strategies aimed at the Polish diaspora and collaborating with foreign broadcasters. An interesting fact is that TVP operates channels targeted at Poles abroad, such as TVP Polonia. Despite controversies related to political involvement by the authorities, TVP remains an important element of Polish cultural, media, and social life.
