Polish Vodka Museum

The Museum of Polish Vodka (MPW), located in the Praga-Północ district of Warsaw, is an institution that documents the over 600-year history and tradition of vodka production on Polish lands. It is housed in a historic spirit rectification building from 1897, which was the main building of the Warsaw Vodka Factory "Koneser." The building was restored and adapted for museum purposes by the "Polska Wódka" Foundation, and its design was selected through an open architectural competition in 2014, with the multimedia exhibition designed by Mirosław Nizio. The museum, which opened on June 12, 2018, is one of two in Warsaw dedicated to vodka, alongside the Museum of Vodka. Inside, visitors can explore various exhibits, including the history and technology of vodka production from the 15th century to modern times. The main exhibition features alchemists' laboratories, taverns, manor houses, and modern production methods. An interesting feature of the museum is the flooring made from spirit barrels and the original steel stairs leading to the cinema room on the first floor, which mimics the interior of a fermentation vat. This room has copper mesh on the ceiling and walls. Visitors can watch films about the vodka industry workers in comfortable armchairs from the Komedia Theater. The museum also offers a tasting of Polish vodkas, the cost of which is included in the ticket price. In addition to the museum spaces, the building also houses a bar, restaurant, bistro, and Wedel chocolate lounge, making it an ideal place to spend time for both vodka enthusiasts and those seeking cultural attractions. It is worth noting that the museum showcases the significance of vodka in Polish culture, history, and customs, highlighting its role not only as a beverage but also as an element of national identity.
