Potęgowo is a rural commune located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, within Słupsk County, occupying the eastern part of the county and situated within the river basins of the Łupawa and Łeba rivers. The commune, which was part of the Słupsk Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998, consists of 24 village districts, including Potęgowo, which serves as the commune's seat. According to data from the end of 2017, the commune had a population of 6,979, and its area is 227.92 km², of which 66% is agricultural land and 26% is forested.
Potęgowo Commune is characterized by a rich cultural heritage, including architectural monuments such as the Rococo church in Łupawa from 1772, the palace in Poganice, and a burial site of the Wielbark culture in Głuszyna. It is also worth noting the Grodzisko Runowo Nature Reserve, which protects a unique beech forest ecosystem and a historical medieval stronghold, highlighting the region's connection to its ancient past.
The commune is surrounded by other municipalities, such as Cewice and Czarna Dąbrówka, and cooperates with the partner commune of Petrovo.
