Poznań Gate ICHOT

The Poznań Gate ICHOT, previously known as the Interactive Centre of the History of Cathedral Island (Interaktywne Centrum Historii Ostrowa Tumskiego), is a modern cultural institution in Poznań aimed at promoting the history and heritage of Cathedral Island. It is situated in a picturesque location by the Cybina River, blending contemporary architecture with the historic Cathedral Lock building. The design of the Poznań Gate, created by the Krakow-based studio Ad Artis, features a minimalist style and modern forms that harmoniously coexist with the surrounding historical monuments. The main part of the complex is a building covering 5,116 square meters, complemented by the two-story Cathedral Lock structure, which serves as a space for temporary exhibitions. The exhibition at the Poznań Gate is multimedia-based, eschewing traditional museum exhibits in favor of an interactive interpretation of cultural heritage, particularly related to the early history of Poland and Cathedral Island. The center organizes a variety of educational events and exhibitions, making it a hub for supporting local culture and history. It is worth noting that the Poznań Gate has received numerous awards, such as being named one of the 7 New Tourist Wonders of Poland by National Geographic and receiving the Jan Baptysta Quadro Award. The facility is also distinguished by its accessibility for people with disabilities, offering audio guides and adapted tour spaces. As the starting point of the Royal-Imperial Route (Trakt Królewsko-Cesarski), the Poznań Gate bridges the past with the present, attracting both tourists and residents of Poznań with its diverse cultural offerings and initiatives.
