Poznań Stadium

The Municipal Stadium in Poznań, also known as ENEA Stadion, is a modern sports facility located at 17 Bułgarska Street, owned by the City of Poznań. It was opened on September 20, 2010, with a concert by Sting and the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as its inaugural event. The stadium gained recognition as one of the venues for the 2012 European Championship, hosting three group-stage matches. Its history dates back to 1968 when construction began, and the original three-stand facility hosted its first Lech Poznań match in 1980. Between 2002 and 2012, the stadium underwent a comprehensive renovation that increased its capacity and improved spectator comfort. Currently, the stadium can accommodate approximately 43,269 people, with its distinctive architectural feature being a membrane roof that integrates seamlessly with the stands. The complex also includes a museum dedicated to Lech Poznań, a go-kart track, and around 900 parking spaces. The stadium hosts numerous cultural events, such as concerts by artists including Alicia Keys and Iron Maiden, as well as ceremonies commemorating important historical moments, like the 1050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland. Despite its modernity, the stadium has faced challenges, such as turf replacement, due to architectural constraints affecting natural lighting and ventilation. In the future, the facility plans further development and adaptation to meet both sporting and cultural needs, remaining an important landmark in Poznań.
