wikipedia
Prof. Jerzy Stelmach Marine Science Center (MCN) in Szczecin is a modern educational institution located on Łasztownia Island, at 1 Nad Duńczycą Street. Its architectural form resembles a ship's hull, reaching a height of 14 meters and a length of 122 meters. The building, with an area of 3,100 m², is divided into three levels, housing interactive exhibitions and a planetarium that can accommodate 43 people. MCN offers 212 interactive devices related to sailing, life at sea, and various fields of science, such as physics, astronomy, and medicine. The center also prepares workshops in model making and shipbuilding. Established in 2017, the Science Center aims to support young explorers and build regional identity by combining local culture with science. MCN is a cultural institution of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, and its Program Council includes distinguished figures from various fields, including representatives of universities and experts in science and art. In collaboration with the West Pomeranian Sailing Association, MCN has created the Prof. Jerzy Stelmach Children's University, targeted at children aged 9–12, aimed at developing their passion and knowledge in marine sciences and sailing. A notable feature is the rooftop terrace with a restaurant, which complements the center's offerings and provides an opportunity to admire views of the Oder River and the surroundings of Szczecin. As a place of learning and culture, MCN is part of the regional heritage and aims to inspire future generations to explore the mysteries of water and marine life.
