wikipedia
The PTTK "Trzy Korony" Shelter is a mountain tourist shelter located in the Pieniny Mountains, in the village of Sromowce Niżne, at an altitude of 470 meters above sea level. It was built between 1929 and 1930 according to the design of engineer and architect Jan Biasion. Initially named the "Silesian Shelter," it served as a shelter and holiday camp for Silesian youth and was also used by the Polish Tatra Society. During World War II, it functioned as a border guard post, and after the war, it was designated for soldiers of the Border Protection Army. In 1965, the shelter was handed over to the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK) and subsequently modernized. Today, the architecture of the building reflects traditional Podhale style, featuring a tall structure with a masonry basement that partially serves as a terrace. The shelter offers 50 sleeping places in 17 rooms with bathrooms, a buffet, a club room, and a restaurant. Heating is provided by an oil stove, and solar collectors are installed on the roof. The shelter is open year-round, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy beautiful views of the Pieniny Gorge of the Dunajec River, the Trzy Korony massif, and the Belianske Tatras. Nearby attractions include a rafting harbor and Lake Czorsztyn. Popular hiking trails pass through the Szopczański Gorge and the southern slopes of Trzy Korony, making this an ideal destination for tourists and mountain hiking enthusiasts.
