The municipality of Czorsztyn, located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and the Nowy Targ County, covers an area of 61.72 km², with a spatial structure dominated by agricultural land (47%) and forests (46%). From a historical perspective, the municipality was part of the Nowy Sącz Voivodeship until the administrative reform in 1998. The municipal seat is Maniowy, which was previously known as Czorsztyn. The municipality includes several villages, such as Czorsztyn, Huba, Kluszkowce, Maniowy, Mizerna, and Sromowce Niżne and Wyżne, with the locality of Podbrzezie, which does not have village status. The municipality cooperates with neighboring municipalities, such as Krościenko nad Dunajcem and Łapsze Niżne, and borders Slovakia, which influences its cultural and architectural heritage. Czorsztyn, with a population of 7,143 according to 2004 data, boasts a rich cultural and historical heritage reflected in the traditions of the local residents and their architecture, characteristic of the Podhale region. Interestingly, the municipality features numerous tourist attractions related to its natural landscape, including the Czorsztyn Reservoir and the ruins of Czorsztyn Castle, which attract many visitors. The municipality constitutes 4.19% of the area of Nowy Targ County, highlighting its regional significance.
