PTTK Bacówka Pod Małą Rawką is a tourist shelter located in the picturesque Bieszczady National Park, at an altitude of 930 meters above sea level, at the foot of Mała Rawka. It was opened in 1979 and has since served tourists, offering 30 sleeping places in 2-, 3-, and multi-bed rooms, as well as the possibility of sleeping on the floor. The facility also allows hikers to pitch a tent, encouraging visitors to immerse themselves in the natural surroundings. Architecturally, the bacówka (traditional mountain shelter) reflects the traditional style of mountain construction, combining functionality with simplicity, which allows it to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.
The bacówka is a key point on the red hiking trail leading from Wetlina through Mała Rawka to Połonina Caryńska, making it a popular spot among mountain hiking enthusiasts. It is also a place rich in culture and history, closely tied to the pastoral traditions of the Bieszczady Mountains. Around the shelter, tourists can encounter stunning mountain panoramas and unique flora and fauna characteristic of the region.
An interesting fact is the bacówka’s proximity to the Bieszczady Obwodnica (the main circular route of the Bieszczady Mountains), which provides easy access to numerous hiking trails. The place attracts both experienced hikers and beginners eager to explore the charm of the Bieszczady Mountains. As one of the oldest facilities of its kind in the region, PTTK Bacówka Pod Małą Rawką is not only a place to stay overnight but also a hub where tourists can meet, share experiences, and exchange stories about their mountain adventures.
