PTTK Mountain Hut on Maciejowa

The PTTK Bacówka on Maciejowa is a tourist shelter picturesquely located in the Gorce Mountains, on the Przysłop clearing, about 1 km from the summit of Maciejowa. It was built in 1977 according to a design by S. Karpiel. The architecture of the shelter stands out with its original interior decor, where the walls are adorned with sculptures made by graduates of the A. Kenar Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zakopane. Stylish finishing details, such as chairs or radiator covers, give it a unique character. This is a facility that not only serves as accommodation but also acts as a central point for lovers of mountain hiking, cycling, and skiing. Bacówka offers overnight accommodation, a buffet with warm meals, and organizes various events, including literary meetings and special occasions. Near the shelter, there are two ski lifts, making it a popular destination during the winter season. From its terrace, a spectacular panoramic view unfolds, encompassing the summit of Wierchowa and Babia Góra, and, in favorable weather, also the Tatra Mountains and the Slovak mountains. Bacówka is located close to the border of the Gorce National Park, which further enhances its appeal as a base for mountain hikes. Hiking in this area is well-developed thanks to numerous trails, among which the red Main Beskid Trail leading from Rabka and the green routes from Piątkowa Góra and Poręba Wielka stand out. An interesting fact is that the shelter is furnished in the highlander style, aided by its affiliation with the Klub Bacówkarza. The PTTK Bacówka on Maciejowa is a place where tradition meets functionality, making it an important point on the tourist map of the Gorce Mountains.
