Puzdrowo

Puzdrowo is a Kashubian village in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, known for its rich history and Kashubian traditions. Located in the municipality of Sierakowice, along provincial road No. 211, it is becoming the western district of Sierakowice. Its history dates back to 1396, when it was a noble village. The name Puzdrowo has two possible interpretations, related either to a bulging vessel or a depression in the terrain. In the 20th century, the village underwent changes under German occupation, during which its name was changed to Pustrau. The first school in Puzdrowo was established in 1873, and its history is linked to the development of education in the region. The inhabitants, primarily of Kashubian descent, maintain their local identity and cultivate Kashubian traditions, including the teaching of the Kashubian language in schools. Puzdrowo is also home to the house where Father Bernard Sychta, a well-known Kashubian activist, was born and raised, making the village a place of cultural significance; an obelisk commemorating his achievements stands in front of his house. The economy of Puzdrowo is based on agriculture, with a strong focus on poultry farming. The village has various service facilities and infrastructure, including the Park of the Laws of Nature, a sports hall, and a playing field. With residential buildings concentrated along the roads, Puzdrowo blends tradition with modernity and has significant development potential, as evidenced by its expanded industrial park and access to water and sewage networks. The residents of Puzdrowo have been connected to the place for centuries, creating a unique cultural and social mix, and local patriotism keeps Kashubian traditions alive. The village is not only a place with history but also a dynamically developing space where modernity harmoniously integrates with tradition.
