The Sierakowice Commune, located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship within the Kartuzy County, is a rural municipality with its seat in the town of Sierakowice. From 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Gdańsk Voivodeship. The commune is known for its rich Kashubian culture; in 2007, the Kashubian language was introduced as an auxiliary language, highlighting the local identity. According to data from June 30, 2022, the commune is inhabited by 20,686 people, with as many as 98% being Kashubians, and a 2002 survey revealed that 39.9% of the population speaks the Kashubian language.
