Raducz

Raducz is a village located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the municipality of Nowy Kawęczyn, with a holiday character, where only about 38 people live permanently. The settlement was most likely established in the 18th century and was situated on the Łowicz-Błonie Plain, near important roads such as the provincial road no. 707 and the international E67. The village has two parts: the older eastern part and the western part, once known as Raducz-Kolonia. The buildings in Raducz are mainly old, single-story masonry structures with gable roofs, and their layout resembles a combination of a linear village and a row village. Particularly noteworthy is the small avenue of horse chestnuts near the former manor house and the remnants of a Russian military cemetery from before World War I. Historically, Raducz was an agricultural village, primarily cultivating rye, oats, and potatoes, but since the 1950s, the population has declined due to migration to cities. An interesting fact is that until the 1990s, many soldiers stationed at a nearby military unit stayed in Raducz, which influenced the lives of the residents. Its holiday appeal attracts former inhabitants, and the permanent population mainly relies on pensions and social benefits for income. Raducz stands on historic ground, associated with battles during World War I and World War II, giving it a rich past. It was also a filming location for well-known movies such as "Czterej pancerni i pies" (Four Tank-Men and a Dog). In the 1960s, Raducz was the seat of a gromada (administrative unit), and since 1999, it has belonged to the Skierniewice County. The village is surrounded by forested areas, and the nearby Rawka River is part of a nature reserve, promoting biodiversity. It is worth mentioning the outstanding folk violinist Stanisław Klejnas, who contributed to the region's folk culture, and Jerzy Kubalewski, a member of the Sejm. Although sparsely populated, Raducz retains its local charm and historical significance, making it an interesting place for tourists and local holidaymakers.
