wikipedia
Raniżów is a village in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Kolbuszowa County, serving as the seat of the municipality of the same name and a Roman Catholic deanery. The locality has existed since the Middle Ages, with the first mention dating back to 1366, suggesting it was a settlement site even earlier. Casimir III the Great and Władysław Jagiełło hunted in the surrounding forests, and Raniżów contributed to the victory over the Teutonic Knights in 1410. After the First Partition of Poland, the village came under Habsburg rule, and in 1782 it obtained town rights, which it lost in 1919. Raniżów was a place of coexistence of three cultures: Polish, Jewish, and German, which influenced local folklore. After World War II, it was mainly settled by Poles, and the village began to develop, transforming into a vibrant commercial and service center. Every Thursday, residents participate in markets, continuing the trading traditions from the 19th century. Geographically, Raniżów is located on the Kolbuszowa Plateau, surrounded by forests with remnants of the former Sandomierz Forest. The village has attractive tourist features, such as the artificial reservoir Maziarnia, which serves as a refuge for many species of fauna and a recreational spot. The village has a sports club with a rich history, and the senior team competes in football leagues. Raniżów, experiencing dynamic development, combines natural beauty with a rich history and cultural traditions, making it an interesting place to live and visit.
