wikipedia
Rogoźnik is a village located in the Zagłębie Dąbrowskie region, in the Silesian Voivodeship, characterized by a rich history documented by archaeological finds dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages. The existence of a settlement in Rogoźnik dates back at least to the 13th century, with the first mentions from 1225, and later documents indicate its affiliation with the Zwierzyniec Monastery and the Duchy of Bytom. Rogoźnik went through various stages of development, with dominant noble families such as the Rogojskis and Krylińskis, as well as Kraków bishops who collected tributes from the village. In the 18th century, the locality was already economically diverse, with mills and small mines, and the 19th century brought transformations related to industrial development, which contrasted with its original agricultural character. Despite industrialization, Rogoźnik has retained its landscape values, including its location at the foot of Buczyna. Today, the village, inhabited by nearly 3,000 people, offers a variety of services, including educational, sports, and cultural facilities. It is home to the Cyklon Rogoźnik sports club, the Rural Housewives' Circle, and the folk ensemble "Rogozanki." Rogoźnik also has its place in folk culture, with a legend about a witch who turned people into stone, which is a testament to its rich regional heritage. The village also has an archaeological protection zone with monuments from the 19th century, including houses, roadside crosses, and a railway viaduct. Rogoźnik also boasts good transport infrastructure, with numerous bus connections and proximity to Pyrzowice Airport, facilitating communication with nearby cities and regions.
