Rozdziele

Rozdziele is a picturesque village located in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Bochnia County, which serves tourist and recreational functions, offering visitors beautiful views of the Beskid Wyspowy Mountains and numerous hiking trails. The village features two mountain shelters and agritourism farms, and the blue hiking trail passing through the village connects many interesting places. It is also worth visiting the viewpoint at Widoma Pass, from which the Tatra Mountains can be seen on a clear day. The culture of Rozdziele is manifested through the activities of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Rural Housewives' Circle, as well as the village community center. The history of education in the village dates back to the end of the 19th century, and the current primary school is named after Władysław Orkan. Rozdziele is home to valuable historical monuments, such as the wooden Church of St. James the Apostle from the 15th century, and the Chapel of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the 1950s, designed in the Zakopane style. The church's furnishings include Baroque Stations of the Cross and a neo-Gothic altar. An interesting fact is the legend of the robber Madej, who in the 14th century attacked merchants traveling through the area. The name Rozdziele derives from the watershed that divides the basins of the Raba and Dunajec rivers. The history of the settlement dates back to the 13th century, and its development was associated with various owners and events, including the partitions of Poland and the changing living conditions of the inhabitants. In the mid-20th century, the village experienced revitalization thanks to initiatives by clergy, which led to the construction of the chapel and the relocation of the historic church. The village is also associated with individuals who contributed to its development and culture, such as painters, politicians, and local activists. The location of Rozdziele in the Beskid Wyspowy Mountains, near a provincial road and within important tourist routes, makes it an attractive destination both for relaxation and for exploring local history and culture.
