It is topographically diverse, featuring high hills, the valleys of the Dunajec and Biała rivers, and water reservoirs such as Lake Rożnów and Lake Czchowskie. The area abounds in numerous attractions, including scenic viewpoints and rock formations like Diable Skały (Devil’s Rocks) or the Wieprzek rock. In a historical context, the foothills are home to numerous World War I military cemeteries, as well as memorial sites related to World War II and the activities of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa). Architecturally, the region is distinguished by its wooden churches, which are valuable historical monuments.
