wikipedia
Rozprza is a town in Poland, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, Piotrków County, with a history dating back to the Mesolithic period. Granted town rights before 1272, it was once the seat of the Rozprza castellany and played a significant role in the region's administrative structure over the centuries. In the Middle Ages, Rozprza served as a trade hub due to its location along communication routes, which contributed to its growth. The town’s architectural history is rich; it once featured a ring-shaped stronghold and later defensive fortifications, though only fragments of these structures remain today. Although demoted to a village in 1870, Rozprza regained its town status on January 1, 2023, following a public consultation in which the vast majority of residents supported the initiative. Modern-day Rozprza is known for the Municipal Sports Club "Czarni Rozprza" and the establishment of the Museum of the Rozprza Land, opened in 2021, which showcases local traditions and history. Interestingly, Rozprza was home to notable figures such as writer Józef Pawlikowski and General Józef Zaremba, underscoring the town’s importance in local culture and history.
