Ruciane-Nida is an urban-rural municipality in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, located in Pisz County, with its administrative seat in the town of Ruciane-Nida. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the municipality was part of the Suwałki Voivodeship. It covers an area of 357.74 km², characterized by a high proportion of forest land (71%) and a small share of agricultural land (12%). In 2004, the population was 8,619, but by the end of 2019, it had decreased to 7,991. Ruciane-Nida is rich in auxiliary units such as village councils (sołectwa) and housing estates. It includes 18 village councils, covering localities such as Gałkowo, Iznota, Karwica, and Niedźwiedzi Róg, as well as housing estates within Ruciane-Nida itself. The municipality borders other communes like Mikołajki, Piecki, Pisz, Rozogi, and Świętajno, highlighting its role as a central point in the region. Architecturally, the area is surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of Masuria, which attract numerous tourists.
