wikipedia
Gmina Rymań, located in northwestern Poland in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, boasts a rich cultural and natural heritage. The administrative seat of the municipality is the village of Rymań, which serves as the central hub for local governance. According to data from 2016, the municipality was home to 4,019 residents, accounting for 5.1% of the population of Kołobrzeg County. Half of the municipality's economy is based on agriculture, and it covers an area of 146.15 km², with forests making up 39% of its territory. The area's exceptional natural beauty is highlighted by numerous rivers and lakes, such as Studnica and Starnin, which attract tourists and nature enthusiasts alike. The history of the municipality is closely tied to the operation of the Kołobrzeg Narrow-Gauge Railway, sections of which connected Rymań as early as 1895. This railway played a significant role in local transportation until the 1990s. Architecturally, the area retains traditional rural buildings, as well as cultural institutions such as the Municipal Public Library and the "Biadule" Artistic Ensemble. A notable feature is the cycling path that follows the route of the former narrow-gauge railway, offering a unique way to explore the region. Sports clubs are active within the municipality, reflecting the community's engagement in athletic activities. Gmina Rymań also cherishes its religious heritage through the work of Roman Catholic parishes. Its international partnership with the German municipality of Marienwerder, established in 2003, underscores its openness to cross-border cooperation. A prominent historical figure associated with the area is Władysław Ludwik Panas, a professor at the Catholic University of Lublin, who was born in Dębica. Since 2006, the mayor of the municipality, Mirosław Terlecki, has continued to foster development in areas such as education and local infrastructure, providing residents with opportunities for growth and an improved quality of life.
