wikipedia
Rymanów, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within Krosno County, is a town with a rich history dating back to 1376, when it was founded by Władysław Opolczyk under Magdeburg Law. Its earliest mention was as Ladisslaulia. In the 16th century, Rymanów became an important center of the Reformation in the region, and after subsequent religious conflicts, the castle and estate came into the hands of the Stadnicki family. The town suffered from numerous invasions, including those by the Swedes, Russians, and bandits. In the 19th century, Rymanów gained status as a center of Hasidism, with important figures such as the tzaddik Menachem Mendel and his disciple Cwi Hirsch. Architecturally, Rymanów boasts several monuments, including the 18th-century Parish Church of St. Lawrence, a manor house from 1826, and a synagogue. The town also preserved cemeteries: a Catholic one with war memorials and a Jewish one with matzevot, which is a pilgrimage site for Hasidim. In the 20th century, Rymanów actively participated in cultural life through organizations such as the "Sokół" Gymnastic Society, and after World War II, the town experienced difficult times, including brutal repression of Jews and activities by the OUN-UPA. Today, Rymanów is a place with developed infrastructure, including National Road 28 and a modern wind farm. The town is also known for tourism, offering hiking and cycling trails through picturesque landscapes and traces of its rich history. In 2013, Rymanów had a population of 3,729, and among its cultural traditions, the organization of various events related to local heritage stands out.
