Rzepin, an urban-rural municipality in the Lubusz Voivodeship with its seat in the town of Rzepin, was established on January 15, 1976. The history of the municipality dates back to 1945, when the rural municipality of Rzepin was created, which existed until 1954 but did not include the town of Rzepin itself. After World War II, the municipality was part of the Recovered Territories and successively belonged to various voivodeships until the 1975 reform, which transformed it into an urban-rural municipality. Currently, the municipality covers an area of 191.11 km², of which agricultural land constitutes 40% and forests 51%. The region is characterized by rich flora and fauna, and within its territory lies the Mokradła Sułowskie Nature Reserve, which protects rare species of plants and water-marsh birds. The municipality of Rzepin, which according to 2011 data had 9,963 inhabitants, includes several village districts such as Drzeńsko, Kowalów, Lubiechnia Mała, and Lubiechnia Wielka, as well as smaller localities like Brodniki and Grądnik. Rzepin borders the municipalities of Cybinka, Górzyca, Ośno Lubuskie, Słubice, and Torzym. Despite its small size, the region boasts rich cultural heritage and diverse local traditions that attract tourists and residents alike, contributing to the development of the local community.
