wikipedia
Sędziejowice is a village in Poland, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, in the Łask County, within the administrative district of Gmina Sędziejowice. It is situated 13 kilometers south of Łask, near forests and the Grabia River. Once a ducal property, the village was mentioned in the Gniezno Bull of 1136 and for many years belonged to the Archbishopric of Gniezno. The current name of the village was established in the 18th century. Sędziejowice played a significant role in the January Uprising; on August 26, 1863, a battle took place here in which many Cossack soldiers lost their lives. The memory of these events is commemorated by a monument and a school named after the "Insurgents of 1863." Sędziejowice also boasts interesting architecture, including a manor complex with a 19th-century Neoclassical manor house and a park with monumental trees. On the site of the former Church of St. Mary Magdalene from 1779, which burned down in 1984, there is now a cemetery. The village is home to the Władysław Grabski Agricultural School Complex, the oldest institution of its kind in the region, offering education in agriculture. Modern-day Sędziejowice also has its own sports team, the Gminny Klub Sportowy, which brings together local football players. Over the centuries, the village has undergone many changes, including displacements during World War II and changes in ownership, but it still preserves its cultural and historical heritage.
