The Sławno Commune, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, covers an area of 284.39 km² and includes 22 village districts (sołectwa). Its administrative seat is the town of Sławno, which is a separate urban commune. The history of the commune dates back to the post-World War II period when it was established on the Recovered Territories and incorporated into the Szczecin Voivodeship in 1946. The commune was abolished in 1954 but reinstated in 1973. Sławno Commune and the town of Sławno shared joint administrative bodies until 1991, when they were finally divided into two separate local government units. Demographically, according to 2009 data, the commune had a population of 7,349, accounting for 15.2% of the population of Sławno County. The area features significant natural landscapes, including two nature reserves: Sławieńskie Dęby and Janiewickie Bagno, as well as the Wieprza River, which is suitable for kayaking. The commune benefits from a well-developed road infrastructure, connecting it to larger urban centers such as Koszalin and Słupsk. Economically, the commune is diversified, with agriculture being the dominant sector, occupying 61% of its area. Rail transport has a long history here; the first railway line between Koszalin and Słupsk was opened in 1869, and the commune currently has active railway stations. There is one post office operating in Tychowo, with additional postal services available in Sławno. Rich in natural and cultural resources, Sławno Commune offers significant advantages for both residents and tourists.
