The municipality of Słupno, located in the Masovian Voivodeship in Płock County, has a rich history and is experiencing dynamic demographic growth. It was established by a decision in 1989, when part of the municipality of Borowiczki was incorporated into the city of Płock. The seat of the municipality is Słupno, to which the administration moved in 1999. The area of the municipality is 74.71 km², and in 2017 it was inhabited by 7,705 people, indicating population growth compared to 2004, when there were 4,991 residents. The land use structure of the municipality is primarily agricultural land (68%) and forests (15%). The municipality is bordered by the city of Płock to the west and the Vistula River to the south. Słupno is situated on the Płock Upland and neighbors the municipalities of Bodzanów, Gąbin, Radzanowo, and Słubice. An interesting fact is that the Słupianka River flows through the municipality, emptying into the Vistula, making the area picturesque. The municipality is also home to a large resource base of the Petroleum Pipeline Operation Company in Miszewko Strzałkowskie. The municipality is divided into several village districts (sołectwa), including Barcikowo, Bielino, and Sambórz, while the localities of Gulczewo, Piotrowo, and Święcieniec do not have the status of village districts. Architecturally, the municipality stands out with its local buildings, and historically, one can observe the influence of changing administrative divisions and the development of rural areas around Płock. Thanks to its location and local initiatives, Słupno is becoming increasingly attractive to both residents and tourists.
