Płock County

Płock County, located in the western part of the Masovian Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, with its seat in Płock, which is a city with county rights. The county includes both urban-rural municipalities, such as Bodzanów, Drobin, Gąbin, and Wyszogród, as well as rural municipalities, including Bielsk, Brudzeń Duży, Bulkowo, and others. According to data from 2019, the county was inhabited by 110,952 people, and in 2020, this number slightly decreased to 110,927. Płock County is home to four towns: Bodzanów, Drobin, Gąbin, and Wyszogród, each with its own rich history. Bodzanów received town rights in 1351, while Drobin obtained them in 1511, highlighting their long urban traditions. Gąbin's history dates back to 1322, and Wyszogród's to 1398. Additionally, it is worth mentioning two villages, Bielsk and Słubice, which once held town rights, reflecting their significance in regional history. Architecturally, Płock County stands out for its diversity of styles, reflecting the region's rich history, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque influences, which can be admired in the buildings of its towns and villages. Culturally, the county is an active hub with various events, festivals, and local traditions that preserve its heritage.
