The municipality of Sianów, located in the northern part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship within Koszalin County, is an urban-rural municipality with its seat in the town of Sianów. Covering an area of 226.77 km², the municipality was inhabited by 13,765 residents in 2016. Between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Koszalin Voivodeship. It offers access to the Baltic Sea through the village of Łazy, which was reintegrated into the municipality in 2023. Sianów borders the city of Koszalin and other municipalities of Koszalin and Sławno Counties. The municipality boasts a rich architectural heritage, including numerous churches in various styles, such as the Gothic Church of St. Anthony of Padua in Osieki Koszalińskie, known for its pilgrimages, and the half-timbered Church of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Sianów. Also noteworthy are the Eclectic Gate in Sianów and the 18th-century oak gate in Iwięcino. The area is rich in natural landscapes, with a significant portion covered by forests (44%) and agricultural land (47%). It is home to nature reserves, including Jodły Karnieszewickie and the Karnieszewice Arboretum. The municipality offers a network of hiking and cycling trails, as well as kayaking routes along the Polnica and Uniesta rivers and Lake Jamno. Key national and regional roads pass through the area, and the active railway station in Skibno reflects its historical connection to major rail routes. The municipality is actively developing its infrastructure, with budget expenditures reaching 53.1 million PLN in 2016. Sianów has a rich history, which includes a 19th-century match factory, as well as numerous local legends and traditions. Its settlements are diverse, with many hamlets, villages, and administrative units forming an integral part of the local community. The municipality of Sianów stands out not only for its cultural heritage but also for its growing popularity as a leisure and tourist destination, making it attractive to both residents and visitors.
