The Skierniewice Commune, located in the Łódź Voivodeship within the Skierniewice County, was formed through the merger of the Dębowa Góra and Skierniewka communes. Its administrative seat is the town of Skierniewice, which from 1975 to 1998 was part of the former Skierniewice Voivodeship. Over the years, the commune has experienced significant growth, with its population increasing from 6,750 in 2004 to 7,609 in 2019. The commune covers an area of 131.67 km², of which 64% is agricultural land and 29% is forested. It constitutes 17.41% of the total area of Skierniewice County. The commune is home to valuable nature reserves, such as Kopanicha, which protects natural forests in the Rawka River valley, as well as other areas that serve as habitats for rich fauna and flora. Demographically, the commune is characterized by a diverse age distribution, highlighting its social diversity. It consists of numerous village administrations (sołectwa), including Balcerów, Borowiny, Brzozów, Dębowa Góra, and Miedniewice.
