The municipality of Sokolniki, located in the Łódź Voivodeship within Wieruszów County, serves as a service center for the agricultural region. The seat of the municipality is the town of Sokolniki, and between 1975 and 1998, it was part of the Kalisz Voivodeship. According to demographic data, the municipality had a population of 4,891 in 2004, which increased to 5,035 by the end of 2019. The primary source of livelihood for the residents is agriculture, and the infrastructure includes a water supply network and an international expressway, which fosters investments in tourism. Within the municipality lies the Ryś Nature Reserve, which protects natural beech and fir ecosystems. Architecturally, the municipality is distinguished by three heritage sites: a palace with outbuildings and a park in Sokolniki, a palace in Walichnowy, and a historic church from the 15th/16th century in Stary Ochędzyn. The municipality of Sokolniki covers an area of 80.02 km², of which 64% is agricultural land and 31% is forested, accounting for 13.89% of the county's total area. The municipality comprises numerous villages, including Bagatelka, Góry, Kopaniny, Nowy Ochędzyn, and Walichnowy, as well as smaller settlements such as Borki Pichelskie and Gumnisko. It borders other municipalities, such as Biała, Czastary, Galewice, Lututów, and Wieruszów, creating additional opportunities for cooperation and regional development.
