wikipedia
Solec nad Wisłą is an urban-rural municipality in the Masovian Voivodeship, within Lipsko County, with its seat in the town of Solec. Established in 1870, it was part of the Radom Voivodeship from 1975 to 1998. The municipality covers an area of 137.41 km², dominated by agricultural land (71%) and forests (21%). According to data from the end of 2012, Solec nad Wisłą had a population of 5,304. The municipality includes several village districts (sołectwa), such as Dziurków, Kalinówek, and Pawłowice, as well as localities without village district status, like Gościniec Siennieński. Solec borders the municipalities of Chotcza, Lipsko, Józefów nad Wisłą, Łaziska, and Tarłów, making it an interesting point on the regional map. From a historical perspective, the municipality has an uncertain coat of arms status, as the previous emblem featuring Casimir the Great was deemed unapproved and incorrect by the Heraldic Commission, making Solec nad Wisłą the only town in Poland without an official coat of arms. The history and identity of the municipality are tied to its architecture, local culture, and direct proximity to the Vistula River, which influences its character and tourist attractions. An interesting fact is that the municipality boasts rich folklore and traditions reflecting the lives of its inhabitants over the years, as well as local initiatives aimed at preserving its culture. It is worth noting that, despite the lack of an approved coat of arms, the residents of Solec nad Wisłą strive to emphasize their identity through various cultural and social activities.
