wikipedia
Lipski County, with its seat in the town of Lipsko, is an administrative unit in the southeastern part of the Masovian Voivodeship, established in 1999. The history of the county dates back to 1956, when it was created within the Kielce Voivodeship. Its administrative structure initially included 31 village clusters (gromady), and the town of Lipsko regained its municipal rights only in 1958, after losing them in 1868. Lipski County underwent numerous boundary and structural changes as a result of administrative reforms, particularly in the 1970s and with the reintroduction of counties after 1998. The county comprises the urban-rural municipalities of Ciepielów, Lipsko, Sienno, and Solec nad Wisłą, as well as the rural municipalities of Chotcza and Rzeczniów, highlighting the territorial and administrative diversity of the region. In 2021, Solec nad Wisłą regained its town rights, reflecting the dynamic development of the locality. Architecturally, the region is distinguished by traditional buildings and churches that form part of the local cultural heritage. The history of the area is rich with interesting events, such as the creation of enclaves of Lipski County within the Lublin Voivodeship, a rare occurrence in Polish administration. Lipski County borders six other counties, creating opportunities for regional cooperation. Demographics are a notable aspect of the county's development, with a population of 33,874 in 2019, which decreased to 33,738 in 2020. County administrators (starostowie) such as Kazimierz Zając, Roman Ochyński, and Sławomir Śmieciuch have contributed to shaping the current local government structures. The region serves as an example of how history, administration, architecture, and culture can coexist and evolve over decades, attracting the interest of both residents and tourists.
