Pajęczno is an urban-rural commune in the Łódź Voivodeship, located in Pajęczno County, with its administrative seat in the town of Pajęczno. The history of the commune dates back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Nowo-Radomsk district in the Piotrków Governorate. In 1870, Pajęczno, which had lost its town rights, was incorporated into the commune. The commune covers an area of 113.64 km², of which 61% is agricultural land and 28% is forest land. At the end of 2007, the commune was inhabited by 11,601 people, and by 2019 this number had decreased to 11,510. The region is home to the Murowaniec Nature Reserve, which protects a unique mixed forest with a significant presence of fir trees. Pajęczno is characterized by a rich structure of villages (sołectwa), including places such as Czerkiesy, Dylów A-Tuszyn, and Stare Gajęcice. It is worth noting that the commune also includes settlements without village status, such as Grabiec or Sierociniec.
