SST Under Solnisko

The Student Tourist Shelter "Pod Solniskiem" is a mountain hut located in the hamlet of Adamy in Lachowice, on the northern slopes of Opuśniok, near the summit of Solnisko in the Solnisko Range. Built in 1908, it originally had no access to electricity or running water. In 1976, members of the Faculty Tourist Club "Maluch" from the Silesian University of Technology converted the building into a shelter. Officially purchased by Almatur around 1978, the shelter was taken over by the Student Mountain Guides Circle "Harnasie" in 2001 after signing an agreement with the Silesian University of Technology. Thanks to modernization in later years, the facility underwent a thorough renovation; it now features three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room with a fireplace, and a bathroom, providing comfortable accommodation for up to 40 people. The hut primarily offers access to books, board games, and musical instruments, encouraging social integration among tourists during less active forms of leisure. An important cultural aspect is the ban on alcohol consumption inside the building, while smoking is only permitted outside. The facility operates year-round, except for breaks during the off-season when availability depends on prior reservation. Interestingly, despite efforts to ensure comfort, the shelter emphasizes connecting with nature and recommends minimizing the use of mobile phones. Numerous hiking trails surround the shelter, making it an excellent base for tourists seeking mountain adventures and unforgettable moments in nature.
