wikipedia
The history of the Parish of St. Alojzy Orione in Warsaw is connected with the construction of the neo-Gothic Chapel of the Infant Jesus, which was completed in 1901. Next to it, the Infant Jesus Hospital was built, but even before World War I, efforts were made to expand it due to the lack of space for patients and staff. The war halted construction work, but after its end, it was possible to complete the building by adding three naves and a sacristy, which took place by 1925. World War II brought serious damage to the church – in 1939, the tower was destroyed, and during the Warsaw Uprising, the roof and windows were damaged. After the war, in 1945, the Orionists began pastoral work in the church, and the parish was established in 1986. The temple houses three altars with paintings, including those of Our Lady of Częstochowa, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and St. Joseph with the Child. The painting "Divine Mercy" dates back to 1941 and was created by Prof. Stanisław Batowski. Meanwhile, "The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary" was painted in 1944 by Prof. Chyła. The priests in the parish are actively involved in pastoral care for the sick in the nearby hospital. The parish includes believers from parts of Warsaw's Wola and Ochota districts, within the area of Chałubińskiego, Chmielna, Żelazna, and other streets. The Parish of St. Alojzy Orione belongs to the Ochota Deanery in the Archdiocese of Warsaw, serving as an important cultural and religious element in the region.
